Work in Sports Media

I am in my 15th consecutive school year of college sports coverage and currently working as a volleyball, basketball broadcaster at the University of Northern Iowa. In the past several seasons, I have also covered baseball.
Panther Sports Properties (Aug. 2012-)

Radio Play-By-Play for Volleyball, Basketball on Learfield

​

Primary announcer of Panther volleyball broadcasts, including 2012-20/2022 Missouri Valley Conference Championship appearances and the 2012/2015-19/2022 NCAA Division I Volleyball Championships (also served as primary SID in 2021-22 seasons)

 

Solo broadcaster of UNI women's basketball, featuring the 2013-23 Missouri Valley Conference Championships, 2017 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship and 2013/2015-16/2018-19/2021-23 Women's National Invitation Tournaments (WNIT)

Baseball Operations, Gameday Assistant

Roles at home games include service as Field Timing Coordinator (runs "pitch clock" to ensure prompt readiness, play from offense, defense throughout contest under Major League Baseball's pace-of-play procedures)

 

Catalogs home games for fans, media between roles as stat stringer (live logging of on-field events to populate official box score, live viewable statistics), official scorer, scoreboard operator

Cedar Rapids Kernels (2016-21 seasons)

Radio Broadcaster

Play-by-play announcer for Kernels home and road games and primary producer of daily game recaps, game notes packets, stat packs, and lineup sheets for Kernels contests and the 2016 Midwest League All-Star Game

 

Prepared interviews and audio clips for the Minnesota Twins' radio network (The Treasure Island Baseball Network) and social media updates for upcoming promotions and live coverage of Kernels games

Jackson Generals (2015 season)

Media Relations and Broadcasting Assistant

Produced written materials (i.e. game notes, recaps, press releases), broadcast elements (i.e. in-game bumpers, interviews, radio promos), and social media "Throwback Thursday" photo series

 

Main producer/studio host for radio broadcasts of Generals road games along with play-by-play/color commentary duties during home contests, occasionally featuring live or taped interviews

Charleston RiverDogs (2014 season)

Media Relations/Broadcasting Assistant

Served as primary writer for the organization, creating game notes and recaps for every contest along with scores of other articles for media releases, in-park handouts, and the team website

 

In-game duties featured play-by-play/color commentary and live stats "datacasting" at home, main role as studio producer for road games on RiverDogs broadcasting outlets

Bowling Green Hot Rods (2013 season)

Broadcast and Media Relations Assistant

Worked every home contest via multiple positions for the season - radio play-by-play, color commentary in one-to-three person booths, also filled in as public address announcer and once as official scorer

 

Road coverage included occasional stints of solo radio play-by-play with the team, studio hosting duties from Hot Rods Radio Network headquarters in Bowling Green

Waterloo Bucks (2011-12 seasons)

Radio Play-By-Play for Baseball in Northwoods League

​

Announced all games played (139 of 140 contests scheduled) on Bucks Baseball Network, featuring 1650 "The Fan" KNCZ-AM and Cruisin' 1250 KCFI-AM in 2012

 

Created all broadcast opens, broadcast closes, bumpers, and two of the 30-second commercial spots used during Bucks broadcasts in two years of service

Broadcast more than 300 Crusader contests and 14 NCAA tournament events between Horizon League and the 2012 NCAA Softball Championship, plus seven national title games within the "LBAA National Tournament of Champions"

 

Wrote nearly 100 newspaper articles, including team recaps, news stories, features, opinion pieces, and columns along with select program record books, all-time results, and player roster bios for school's athletics website
